6th Inter-School Scrabble Championship2005


This year's finals saw the highest number of teams ever recorded in the history of the championship. 20 teams qualified for the Under 15 category and 18 teams for the Under 18. Total of 152 students participated on the 28th & 29th May 2005 at 6th floor, Berjaya Times square, Jalan Imbi, Kuala lumpur


Preliminary rounds were held in five states.
2nd April, Penang, hosted by Han Chiang High School
8 schools (12 teams ) participated
9th April, Ipoh, hosted by SMK Anderson
10 schools (20 teams ) participated
16th April, Johor Bahru, hosted by Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (English College)
7 schools (16 teams ) participated
23rd April, Melaka, hosted by SMK St. Francis
8 schools (16 teams ) participated
30th April, S'gor/ KL, hosted by SMK Katholik, Petaling Jaya
10 schools (17 teams) from Selangor and
7 schools (14 teams ) from Kuala Lumpur participated.

Waking up in the wee hours of the morning to go to Kuala Lumpur was well worth it for students of SMK St. Francis, Melaka. Teams Moonbucks and Dumex 3+ bagged the first and second place titles, respectively, in the Under 18 category while Legends from the same school finished second in the Under 15 category.

The Champions in both U-15 and U-18 category took home a hamper worth RM500, books, vouchers and a trophy each.
Second prize winners received a hamper worth RM300, books, vouchers and a trophy each while third prize winners received a hamper worth RM100, books, vouchers and a trophy each.
Individual winners of Highest Games Score and Highest Word Score received a RM50 hamper respectively.

Mattel Southeast Asia was the main sponsor.
Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur was again the Venue Sponsor.
MPH Bookstores sponsored books prizes and vouchers.
Glaxo Smith-Kline sponsored Ribena drinks, horlicks 3 in 1 and Horlicks Chocolate Malties.
